"To a new country!" On the eve of a new year, in a newly (re)born country, five citizens raise a toast to the new and nobler life that lies ahead. But what price was paid to clear the way for their fresh start? Don't ask the revelers, whose party quickly becomes a grim celebration of denial, excuses, finger pointing... and history.

The basic storyline is five people at a New Year's Eve party discuss and avoid discussing their shared responsibility for a genocidal act. The play is more about ideas and issues than about character and story.
